Scott City R-1 Parents/Guardians,

As we navigate through this pandemic, the health and safety of our school and community is one of our top priorities. The decisions we make are centered around the overall safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community. We believe it is our responsibility to continuously monitor the situation and take an active stance. In the last week we have seen a significant rise in the amount of staff and students that are being quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure. With the rise in numbers we have made the decision to temporarily shut down our school. Starting Monday, November 16, we will close through the end of the month. Students will return to school on Tuesday, December 1.

During this closure, we will be using our AMI-X (Alternative Methods of Instruction) plans. These plans include Google Classroom, SeeSaw, and paper packets. In September, paper copies of the AMI-X plan were sent home for students that marked that they did not have internet/devices. Students will be receiving any additional materials before they leave school on Friday. Devices will not be sent home during this seven day closure. For more information about AMI-X, please click this link.

During our closure we will be offering meal deliveries. Meals will be delivered on Mondays (November 16 and November 23) and will include a five day supply of food. We will be using the same routes that we used last year. Our buses will leave the school at 10:00 am.

Our goal is to protect in-person learning while implementing actions to slow the spread of COVID-19. Vigilance to these actions will minimize the risk of transmission. We understand the burden that this puts on our families and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. We are humbled by the support and grace that has been given to us by our community and S.C. family. Thank you for your support during these challenging times. We are doing our best to be proactive so that we can educate your child to the highest standards.

During this closure, offices will have reduced hours. If you have questions you can call the office from 9:00 am - 12:00. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your building administrator.

Sincerely,

Michael Umfleet, Superintendent
